Sponsor Opportunities / Advertising

2 post in 1 day, so not my style!
I need to go ahead and to respond to this because I know a few of you ladies have been waiting for this promised post and I'd like to get back to regular posting tomorrow so here you have it!

*****************************************************************************

So I've received quite a few emails recently regarding Sponsor Opportunities and Advertising on AIMT.

First, I should start off with saying that I am flattered by the emails and the inquiries to advertise on this blog. Thank you peeps!

Now hear me out on my views toward Sponsoring Blogs/Advertising on Blogs.

I am very open to the idea of offering Sponsorship/Advertising opportunities here. The reason I have NOT opened this blog up to this yet are because of the reasons BELOW.

REASONS FOR NOT HAVING SPONSORS:

1. I can NOT guarantee anyone that advertising on AIMT will give the person sponsoring the results they are looking for. I have the stats on how many page views this blog receives monthly, but that doesn't mean a paid advertiser is going to have record breaking page views/sales.

2. In the event that a shop or blog does NOT gain traffic or followers, I do NOT want people pissed at me. All I can do is supply the space and sometimes people's expectations are a little too high!

3. I have a VERY hard time setting a dollar value to "ad space" or click through buttons. I've seen space on blogs from anywhere between $5 - $100 and I have no clue where the price turns from reasonable to highway robbery. I'm very curious to hear what you think regarding this.

4. I never want to disappoint anyone. A large part of me has been so worried about NOT being able to provide advertisers the results they're looking for, which is why I have completely steered clear of this altogether.

So that's why I haven't offered opportunities in the past.

With all of that still in mind, I am currently considering Advertising for the following reasons.

REASONS FOR CONSIDERING SPONSORS:

1. I have received a lot more enquiries recently about this than ever before.

2. Though I'm unable to guarantee positive results, I have received positive feedback from multiple bloggers who have said that their main traffic source is from AIMT. I have also had bloggers say that their traffic increased drastically after I added them to my Daily Reads List. This alone tells me that advertisers are likely to be VERY happy with their Sponsoring.

3. AIMT stats speak for themselves!

2000+ Followers through GFC
2600+ Followers through Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
Averages 100,000 page views per month

I think providing sponsorships will help grow this blog and the blogs linked to it, which is awesome!

4. I would like to use the revenue created through Sponsors to further advertise this blog, which in the end would result in further advertising the Sponsors aka YOU. Win, win if you ask me!

I'd like to hear feedback regardless of if it is positive or negative from all of you. If you hate this idea, let me know. If you love it and would participate, let me know! Let me know what pricing you consider fair/do-able. Obviously a lot of thought will need to go into this and I'll have a trial period in the event of it actually happening to iron out the kinks, but most importantly I'd like YOUR INPUT. So please comment to let me know what people think.

  1. Im down! I think that as long as you make your plan known in advance and people have a general understanding of sidebar ads you should be good. There will always be angry people but thats because they expect miracles. Especially if they are relying on a sidebar ad for traffic. I think you would be a great blog to sponsor!!

  2. I would SO sponsor you! You have been one of the blogs I received the most traffic thru when you did the Weight linkup a while back. I think a good idea would be to set one price and have side bar ads. That way its not really in your control. If you have ads that you promise to tweet about, put in your posts etc. then people tend to be more critical of their time spent on a blog.

  3. I have yet to find someone I want to pay to sponsor...I can't understand when blogging went from fun ways to vent and "meet" others to "Pay for people to read you" Especially at the prices some people charge and pay. I just don't get it.
I'd be more interested in a button swap on someone's blog. Once I figure out how to make a button lol

  4. I find people paying to advertise their blogs a little strange, but having sponsors who are small, independent businesses who are relevant to the content and viewership of your blog makes sense to me. It's reasonably priced advertising for their business slap bang in the middle of a group of people who are likely to want to buy their products.

After all it's your blog, you should be able to do with it what you will.

I do think it's a little tacky when people start accepting any old sponsor/advertiser even when the product or service doesn't fit with the blog or the personality of the blog's author. It's nice for advertisers to be vetted in the same way content would.

  5. I often get a little bit of traffic on your blog on the days that I comment, so I don't think your sponsors would be disappointed at all. If they want to sponsor, they should know the risks-sometimes it will pay off, sometimes it won't.

I personally think you should have people pay to sponsor, then donate the money every month to your local humane society or some other charity :)

  6. I personally think you should do like Mrs. Raven does, offer a limited amount of spots on your sidebar and call it a day. Nothing is guaranteed so something wanting to buy a spot should understand you can't guarantee their button or link on your blog will blow everyone of your readers away enough to click it. However, it will at the very least give them a few more hits a month.

  8. I would love to sponsor your blog if that is a decision that you make. I don't look at it as "how many people will come my way from her" but more about the readers that you have and the way that they respond to you. I look at it as promoting the people who want to get their blog out there. I still blog for me, but like to have people who can connect with me and the things that I write about. Those people wont just be able to search for my content on blogger....but instead find blogs through other bloggers...whether that be a sponsor or just a swapper. I think all of the thought that you have put in shows that your really trying to do what is right for your readers.

  10. I have a button swap on my tiny blog, and even that I sometimes regret. Even with Passionfruit, it's a bit to keep up with, though easier than managing it on your own. I do miss the days of just "writing". It also makes one's sidebar look cluttered - which irritates me everyday. The bottom line is, once you open that can, it's sort of a mess to undo. Just depends on how interested you are in making money, I think.
As far as people's expectations, I don't think you should be held accountable for whether they gain traffic or not. You can't guarantee traffic for them just from putting their button on your sidebar. Also, I feel like with paid sponsors, there's pressure to post super regularly, and sometimes, you just don't feel like writing, and I hate reading random posts that are up just because the blog author felt obligated to publish that day.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
