Yeast Free & How Its Been For Me

Hey there hotties!
Its Friday which means I put on my happy pants when I jumped out of bed this morning.
SO excited for the weekend to sleep in.
Every single morning when I wake up at 6:15, I think, "On Saturday Im sleeping til noon"!

Cleary this guy feels the same way!

{Its such a hard life to be a bully!}

{"Mom, NO FLASH!!! I'm tryin to get some slllleeeeeeeepppp!!"}

Anywho, Im droppin in to update you on this Yeast Free Business!

So this is how my week went...

Monday - Rocked the shit out of some yeast free, sugar free meals.
Breakfast - Eggs, salsa, turkey bacon
Lunch - Salad
Dinner - Spaghetti Squash and Spaghetti Sauce - If youve never tried this you are MISSING out!

Overall - Felt great Monday, was super happy with my Yeast Free start!

Tuesday- Things were still awesome in my world!
Breakfast - Eggs and turkey bacon again
Lunch - Spaghetti Squash leftovers
Dinner - Lettuce wrap tacos - super yummy too

Overall - Still feeling pretty darn good! And very proud of myself for being so healthy and cooking! Go Kristen!! Im knocking this yeast free business out of the park! I officially have no clue what people think is so hard about this!

Wednesday- I woke up feeling like someone kicked my ass in my sleep. LITERALLY. Head pounding body exhausted. Pretty much like I was dying.
Breakfast - Egg/Jimmy Dean/Veggie Caserole
Lunch - Taco Leftovers
Dinner - Chili

Overall - I was pretty much considering eating anything that would make my head stop pounding at thispoint! The thought of throwing this diet to moon was decided on three times and somehow I just went to sleep to stop thinking about quitting.

Thursday - I woke up feeling like a million bucks. Maybe thats because I thought I was close to death the day before. But I has no headache, my body felt better. All in all I was feeling pretty good.
Breakfast - Eggs, Alvacado and Veggies
Lunch - Chili
Dinner - Chicken/ Mixed Veggies/ Fresh Spinach

Overall - I felt pretty good, I was just very tired. I could definitely tell that my body was missing the carbs aka its main energy source.

Friday- Im feeling SO much better today! I dont feel exhausted. Im not craving anything and I already can see the difference in my body. My jeans are looser. My scale says Im 4lbs lighter than Sunday and I feel GOOD!! I definitely am committed to this Yeast Free Biatch now!!

So here you have it, Im 5 days in and I can see that this is going to change my life. I already feel better and am anxious to see what this new lifestyle will result in longterm. Its definitely a tough, rough start but once you get past the hard part it DOES get easier! I also can see that the diet's success is going to depend 100% on preparation and meal planning! As long as you have your ducks in a row and you have planned everything out this diet CAN work and CAN change your life!!

So If you havent started yet, you should THIS MONDAY!! Do it!
If you have started the diet, send me your favorite recipes!! I need more meal options!

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

    1. You bake it and then scrape the inside of the sqaush with a form and it litterally make stringy noodles. It doesnt taste like a veggie. All you can taste is the speghetti sauce so I think its just a filler! And Its good I promise! Even Chris ate it and liked it and I thought for sure he would like that I didnt use real pasta!

  3. I REALLY need to get on this spaghetti squash business. It looks delish, and I could definitely cut down on my carbs! I posted about my 40 lb weight gain/loss journey on my blog the other day. I'm hoping to start posting recipes, updates and overall healthy habits. Glad to hear it's working already! Keep it up!

  5. I love spaghetti squash and actually don't miss that "I'm so full" post pasta feeling. Are you eating snacks in the AM and PM? I know you only had one day where you felt bad, but snacks keep your metabolism going! So glad to see that this has been so successful so far - I'm actually doing a 24 day cleanse and food challenge, so I understand the importance of meal prep and support!

  11. I have been wanting to try spaghetti squash forever but haven't done it... I bought one once but never cooked it. By the end of this month I have a goal of trying it now :)

  12. I love spaghetti squash and spaghetti sauce - it is one of my standbys for an easy, quick dinner. I like to throw in some of the white meat off of a rotisserie chicken. Yummy for sure. And CONGRATS on the weight loss - that's motivation for sure to keep it up!

  13. Ooooh, I'd love to check out the manual.

My boyfriend follows the Paleo diet 95% of the time and I follow it about 80% with him.

We use a lot of sweet potato chips [homemade baked in the oven], onions, peppers andmushrooms have become our trinity to cook with.

We love steak or chicken with asparagus, sweet potato chips and green beans.

I choose to eat dairy and have become pretty talented making portobello mushroom pizza. I'm sure you can find nondairy cheese to use.

My hint for you would be to find something that tasts like your sweet cheat, otherwise you'll go cray cray.

Also, don't be suprised if you hit the CARB-FLU! Don't fret, you don't get sick, but the loss of carbs in your life throw your system out of wak, trust me, been thee done that. I was all mopey and sad for a few days with carb withdrawl, but it went away pretty quick. GOOD LUCK GIRLIE! You got this!
    [sorry for the humongo comment!]

  15. Hey! I've had that spaghetti squash spaghetti before and you're right, it's amazing!

As for yeast free, is it a normal thing to feel ick during the first few days? Does it last a long time, or can you bounce back like you did?

COngrats on the 4 pounds! That's awesome!

  16. Hi Kristen! Congrats on your successful week of yeast free dieting!! This post has inspired me to get back into routine for sure! I actually tried the spaghetti squash with spaghetti sauce this week and I wasn't a fan. I prefer the soft pasta texture and the spaghetti squash was a little too crunchy for me. Did you ever have this problem? Maybe I just don't know how to cook (truth)!

  17. I just started Yeast Free yesterday! My husband is not on board with this (he is giving up booze for a month, so no yeast would probably put him in the nutty bin). So, it's going to be a challenge, but I am excited! Is there a place you can recommend that you are you finding info/ recipes?

  18. You go girl! Thanks for posting a food diary, I think that helps to stick with it!

  20. That's so awesome! Keep it up, girl! And one question... did you eat any snacks between meals?

  21. This post was definitly an encouragement! Will totally be trying this diet.

  22. What does the spaghetti squash taste like? I like squash so I am gonna say I might like it as spaghetti possibly! How did you cook your chicken? Did you put spices & such on it? I am glad your feeling better & adjusting well to the new diet plan :)

  23. I can never find spaghetti squash at HEB! It makes me so sad. This is probably a dumb question, but yeast free just means no bread right?

  24. Hehe! I love your little bullbaby - I have one too, his name is Brutus Baxter-Barkly ;)

I tried yeast free ... mostly following a paleo diet for 7 days straight. I legit dropped 5 pounds....meal planning was KEY to this! Then, due to an unexpected move that took us from Texas to Massachusetts I munched on crap (chips, typical road trip food) and let me just tell you..my body did NOT cooperate with that!! Then the holidays hit and I know that I totally gained the 5 pounds lost, and then some!

Now that we're settled in Germany it's much easier to focus on meal planning and a healthy lifestyle.

I have a trainer back home in Massachusetts and she once put the visual in my head that if you poured a bag of flour into your sink and turned the water on, that's what flour and gluten and all that crap do inside your body, too. Gross, right?

Anyways, I'm so glad that I found your blog and I'm looking forward to following along on your glluten/yeast-free journey! xo

  25. Hey Kristen!
Just wondering if you could post a recipe for those tacos - they look amazing!

  26. What was the recipe for the breakfast casserole you made? I am doing yeast free and would love to have it to make this week :)

  27. GOOD FOR YOU! Amazing that you've already lost 4 pounds! That makes me want to try it...but pasta is my happiness, I just cannot live without it. Maybe I should attempt a few yeast free meals a week to start me out!

  28. Great job! I have recently decided I need to do soemthing about my diet and your WW history inspired me to go that route. Have you ever heard of slenderkitchen.com? I just purchased the weekly meal plan subscription and it's all based upon WW points. Hoping to standby it like you do. Keep on kicking butt at yeast free !:)
